The recent ENHANCE study by Merck & Co. Inc. and Schering-Plough Corp. shows that Vytorin (Zetia + Simvastatin/Zocor) is no more effective in lowering cholesterol than Simvastatin alone. Has that been your experience as well?
#Response DateOther (please specify)
.1/30/2008 9:38:00 PMthat is not a correct interpretation of the data. Vytorin did lower total chol more than simva alone in the study
.1/30/2008 9:47:00 PMThe study showed lower cholesterol but no benefit on carotid IMT
.1/30/2008 10:08:00 PMThis is wrong. Zetia + zocor lowers cholesterol better than zocor alone
.1/30/2008 10:22:00 PMthis statement is not correct. It(vytorin) did lower LdL cholesterol more than simvastatin alone
.1/30/2008 10:52:00 PMThe trial did not say it wasn't effective in lowering cholesterol; it was not effective in reducing carotid intimal thickening; no difference in MACE events
.1/30/2008 10:53:00 PMThe trial did not say it wasn't effective in lowering cholesterol; it was not effective in reducing carotid intimal thickening; no difference in MACE events
.1/31/2008 4:51:00 PMwhat? "No more effective"? in reducing carotid plaque or lowering the LDL. For sure it lowers the LDL
.2/1/2008 3:19:00 AMI have not prescribed vytorin
.2/1/2008 5:42:00 PMYour statement is wrong. Zetia + Zocor DID lower LDL more than Zocor alone. Statistical difference in the level of LDL cholesterol reached bewteen the two arms of study. Neither arm slowed down progression or caused regression, as would be fully expected given the final high LDL cholesterol values that were achieved in this study on heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemic patients which has very little relevance to the general population we see daily.
.2/3/2008 6:02:00 AMthe LDL did drop more with vytorin than zocor in ENHANCE
.2/4/2008 2:00:00 PMThis is incorrect. ENHANCE showed Vytorin lowered LDL more than simvastatin alone, 58% versus 41% p < 0.01,
