The ENHANCE study was done on patients with a severe form of familial hypercholesterolemia. Can the results of such a study be applicable to patients who have a non-familial elevated cholesterol secondary to age, obesity, poor diet and lack of exercise?
#Response DateOther (please specify)
.1/30/2008 9:58:00 PMDepends on how high cholesterol is
.1/30/2008 10:08:00 PMThose patients werealready on a statin, ergo zocor + zetia study design seems flawed.
.1/30/2008 10:24:00 PMnot sure
.1/31/2008 3:19:00 AMDiet may play a much greater role in the non-familial patients.
.1/31/2008 3:59:00 PMStudy results are applicable to the population studied, not necessarily any other population.
.1/31/2008 4:51:00 PMZetia blocks the cholestrol you eat - which in the study group was probably a lower % of their cholesterol burden
.2/1/2008 3:19:00 AMNot sure without studies
.2/3/2008 6:02:00 AMto some extent yes
.2/4/2008 2:00:00 PMfor LDL lowering yes, for carotid ultrasound measurements no.
